How to : Bold Lips

   

    Bold lips are all the rage for Spring\Summer 2013.  I love wearing bold and bright lips on lazy days. Bold lips help make a bar face look presentable and polished. Bright lips can brighten up any look and outfit and bring some life and freshness to it ! However, if not done right bold lips can mess up your whole look .

Step 1 : Choosing a Color 

    Choosing the right color makes all the difference. Choosing the right color highlights and brings out the beauty in your skin tone. On the other hand, choosing a color that doesn't match your skin tone can wash out our face !

    To avoid choosing a color that's unfitting to your completion, first of all determine your skin undertone. There are three skin undertones: cool , warm , and neutral. The most accurate way to figure out which undertone you are is by the color of the veins on the back of your hands under natural sunlight. I have also included some tips below that could help in determining your skin undertone .

Cool Undertone 

-You have a cool undertone if your veins look more blueish.

-Silver accessories tend to look better on you.

-Eye Color: blue, violet, grey

-Hair Color: blonde, brown , black

Lipstick Color: Choose colors that have a blue or purple undertones 

Warm Undertone

- You have a warm undertone if your veins are greenish or yellowish.
-Gold accessories tend too look better on you
-Eye color: green, hazel, brown, or black eyes .
-Hair color: with strawberry blond, red, auburn, brown, or black hair. 

Lipstick Color: Choose colors with a warm undertone, like coral

Neutral Undertone

-Your veins are blueish and green.

-Both gold and silver accessories look good on you .

- Eye Color: all 

-Hair Color: All 

Lipstick Color: All colors look amazing on neutral skin tones , lucky ones :D

Step 2: Applying the Color

Here are steps that will help you rock your pop of color all day long .

1) Moisturize your lips with a very good lips balm - this step is especially important if you are appling a matte color 

2) Apply a tiny drop of foundation to your lips 

3) Using a lip pencil trace your lips, and color in to maximize its staying power -it is very important to use a lip pencil when using bright colors to help with precision  

4) Using a lip brush apply your lip color 

5) If you want to maximize the staying power even more or even mattify your lipstick, apply one of the thin layers of a tissue on your lips, and then add powder, then reapply your lipstick . Repeat this step several times ( 3 to 5 times).

6) Get your concealer and concealer brush and sculpt your lips, erase and mistakes and makes the lines sharper. Don't forget to blend it out after.

7) Highlight your cupid's bow by applying a light shimmery eyeshadow to it - this will make your lips appear fuller.

Extra Tips on Rocking your Bright Lips :

1) Carry your lipstick with you to reapply throughout the day

2) Make sure there are no lipstick are on your teeth before leaving the house 

3) Remove your lipstick fully at the end of the day, a lip scrub could ease up the process

and remove any left over pigmentation.

4) To make all the focus is all on your lips, avoid heavy eye makeup.

5) Choose a blush that matches your lipstick to avoid clash, and make the look appear more natural.
